We're Listening...

LabOne is excited to announce that we are in the process of forming a Product and Service Client Advisory Group to enhance and facilitate communication between us and our clients. The group will provide guidance on a wide variety of topics that will direct our product and service development. The goals of the group include:

  • Identify the ongoing challenges in attaining risk assessment goals.
  • Foster a mutual understanding of the various risk assessment processes.
  • Elicit feedback on product enhancements and design.
  • Target improvements in the risk assessment process.
  • Provide guidance on product direction.
  • Sharing of ideas for new products.

Group members will communicate by methods that best suit the topic at hand. For example, a discussion topic might be posted to a password protected LabOne Internet site where members can respond on-line. Alternatively, a conference call with an on-line demonstration enabled by WebEx might be better suited if reviewing workflow and software applications.

We look forward to working with everyone on this important initiative. If you are interested in learning more about the group please contact Dianne Schuetz at 708.478.1534 or dianne.schuetz@labone.com.

LabOne Customers Not Affected by ChoicePoint Fraud Incident

Recently an identity-theft fraud situation was disclosed by one of our vendors, ChoicePoint. Our clients were not affected by fraud, but a list of key issues is outlined below:

  • LabOne and ChoicePoint have no ownership or affiliate relationship -- we process your MVR orders to two MVR providers, one of which is ChoicePoint.
  • MVR information was not part of the information that ChoicePoint has disclosed as being improperly released.
  • MVRs are the ONLY product for which we use ChoicePoint to assist in retrieving information on your behalf.
  • ChoicePoint never releases your name or account number to any commercial customer. They may be required by court order, state regulation (audits by a state, for example), or provisions of FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) to report the 'end user' of MVR data on the consumer on whom the MVR was extracted.
  • If one of your customers was a victim of identity theft by this fraud situation, we have been assured that this identity theft would not have resulted from LabOne's use of ChoicePoint for MVRs.
  • The situation was NOT a "hacking" situation where the perpetrators gained illegal access to files via breaching of ChoicePoint network or data security systems or procedures. Rather, these criminals assumed the identities of legitimate companies, certified that data was used only for legitimate purposes, and was randomly sampled after set up. Procedures at ChoicePoint have been strengthened to detect fraud more quickly going forward, including enhanced ChoicePoint customer background verification.

In short, our information indicates that neither you nor your customers were impacted by our ordering of MVRs via ChoicePoint in your behalf. If you have further questions, please contact Ron Barratt at 913-577-1930 or your LabOne Regional Sales Vice President.

ScriptCheck, Powered by Ingenix MedPoint

As many of you have already experienced, our enhanced prescription history tool is fully operational now giving customers new data and improved functionality, including:

  • Expanded access to prescription data. Customers will have access to one of the largest networks of pharmacy claims data in the world. On average 75% of our hits contain prescription information, or, conversely, only 25% are 'clear'.
  • Detailed prescribing physician information. Within the ScriptCheck results, customers now will have up-to-date information on the applicant's prescribing physicians, including phone numbers, mailing addresses, and medical specialty.
  • Rx-to-Dx (drug-to-disease) functionality. Using the Ingenix predictive modeling, ScriptCheck now analyzes pharmaceutical claims data to determine the likelihood an applicant is suffering from a potential disease condition.
  • Rapid turnaround. The new delivery system usually provides results within 30 minutes or less.
  • Access to older applicants. By accessing external plans that are administering Medicare cards our hit rates have gone to over 50% for seniors over 60.

SCRIPTCHECK USERS REMINDER: Be sure to include the sex code -- only 'F' or 'M' are acceptable codes -- and applicant zip code on all your orders for best results!

Contact your LabOne Regional Sales Vice President for more information.

ExamOne.com v2.45 Released

In late January 2005, ExamOne introduced a new version of the members web site. Enhancements include greater control of profile configurations, intelligent order entry, routing information and image uploading capabilities.

Member & Group profile configuration (email status)

  • The site member may now indicate which profile members may receive email status updates.
  • The site member now has ability to indicate that email status updates may be emailed to the group members, on only the cases they have entered or all cases associated with the member’s profile.

Order Entry
During the service-diagnosing phase of order entry, if the user selects to indicate needed services vs. those presented during auto diagnosing, or add to diagnosed services, ExamOne.com will provide a pop-up reminder to the member that they will be overriding and or adding to the auto-diagnose service(s).

Upon saving the order, the system now provides a “duplicate order” check based on:

  • Applicant name, first and last
  • Date of birth
  • SSN
  • Home or work phone number
  • Insurance company

Profile Entering the Order
If the applicant information exists in a previous order, and has been entered again by the site member or their business assistant, the order requestor will be notified showing:

  • The applicant name
  • Control/order number
  • Date of entry
  • The ability to review the existing order in a new window

As the system saves the order, it provides the following options to the site member:

  • View the existing order (in a new page)
  • Email the existing order
  • Duplicate the existing order
  • Exam paperwork destination

The site member now has the option to duplicate an order upon submission if needed. If this option is selected, all applicant information will be duplicated into a new order. The carrier information may be changed by selecting the “Back” button at the bottom of the screen on the duplicated case if needed.

Viewing Group Orders

  • The requesting agency and or agent’s name is now displayed in the order for the insurance carrier level members. This includes system-to-system orders when agent & agency information is provided.
  • The requesting agent’s name is now displayed in the order for agency level members.
  • When using the “View Order” option from the lobby menu, only a single click on the desired applicant is needed to display the order, status and any associated images.
  • The “Search My Orders” and “Global Applicant Lookup” options have been combined into a single lookup feature of “Search Orders”.

Order Routing

  • All orders are routed to the ExamOne office immediately upon order entry.
  • Site members now have the ability to view the ExamOne office their case will be routed to.

Image Uploading

  • The site member now has the ability to upload and associate images (.tif) with all order entries orders.

ExamOne is excited about these enhancements and welcomes your feedback. If you have questions or comments, please contact the LabOne Help Desk at 913.577.1123 or your LabOne Regional Sales Vice President.

LabOne Introduces New Lab Kits

On February 1, 2005, LabOne introduced several major improvements to the blood and urine collections kit. These improvements were based on a great deal of feedback and have been field tested and approved.

The inner components are now cellophane wrapped for better transit and ease of use. The outer kit box was eliminated and replaced by a soft-sided bag. These enhancements reduce the size of the outer shipping cartons, decrease the dimensional weight and allow greater ease of use for field examiners when on-site for a collection.

LabOne Page™ Increases Applicant's Health Awareness

Today, more than ever, concerns about growing healthcare costs are influencing people to lead healthier lifestyles. With this intensified motivation for better health in mind, LabOne offers to insurance companies a service that will increase an applicant's awareness of his or her current health status.

LabOne Page is an abbreviated report of an applicant's lab test results and includes an integrated lab guide defining laboratory testing terminology and detailing what this report means. In other words, LabOne Page is an "applicant friendly" and easy-to-read profile of an applicant's test results. When testing is complete, LabOne sends the report directly to applicant, ensuring confidentiality.

LabOne mails approximately 30,000 LabOne Page profiles each month. The information LabOne provides your applicant will help them make better health decisions and provide a value-added benefit to the agent and policyholders.

For more information, please contact your LabOne Regional Sales Vice President.
